Researchers at the university of Waterloo are setting the bar high when it comes to battery capacity by using negative electrodes made of lithium metal. This could very well mean drastic improvement in battery capacity and electric car ranges.

One of the fundamental issues with electric anything is the range or capacity devices or machines can hold as current technologies are still very inefficient at making this technology practical. You want to go somewhere far, well you better make sure you plan it well because you just might be stuck on the road for a while if you don’t.

And what about planes, trucks and boats? It would be nice to see electrical innovations there too as right now, you are pretty much limited in any practical commercial usability. I guess we’ll just have to grab our beer and wait to see when the perfect fix comes along.
